SOUTH BEND - Edward J. Olbey, 94, passed away peacefully on Feb. 25, 2013, at 3:00 pm in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Ed was born on August 8, 1918, in Detroit, MI, to Edward Olbey and Anna Simon. Edwards parents both died when he was a child. He was raised by his grandmother, Mary Simon. They both lived in South Bend with his Uncle Edmond Benzur, Aunt Ethel and their two sons, Albert and Victor. They all preceded him in death.

Ed graduated from South Bend Central High School.

He served in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. After the war he worked as an aeronautical engineer at the Bendix Corp where he retired in 1982. Edward is survived by nieces and nephews. He had treasured neighbors and friends who shared many lifelong memories. He will be remembered with love by us all.

Zahoran Funeral Home in South Bend, IN, is in charge of the arrangements. A graveside memorial and military honor service will be conducted on Monday, March 4, at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in South Bend, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's charity of choice.
