Ruth I. (Eller) Leonard

Ruth I. Leonard, 85, residing on Cedar Road, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 9:41 p.m. Sunday, April 25, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend, Ind. She had retired from the Indiana & Michigan Power Company and was previously employed by Gordon Crispin, CPA, in River Park. She was born on Oct. 13, 1918, in South Bend, to Ernest E. and Dessie M. (Keltner) Eller, and had lived in this area all of her life. On Aug. 27, 1939, in South Bend, as Ruth Eller, she married LeRoy W. Leonard, who preceded her in death on March 16, 1999. 

Mrs. Leonard is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Ahia of Logansport, Ind., and Janet (Ralph) Heitkamp of Mishawaka; one son, Michael L. (Linda) Leonard of Grayson, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Kelly Ahia, Jim Leonard, Gene Leonard, Mary Cox, Shelley Stewart, Julie Dominiack, Mark Fackson and Mike Feltz; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Lou Brenton of Kokomo, Ind.; and one brother, Roland Eller of Lakeville, Ind. She was preceded in death by one sister, Anna Mae Garwood, and by a brother, Bob Eller.

Mrs. Leonard graduated from Granger Community School and South Bend Central High School. She was a member of the former River Park Church of Christ, and attended Deer Run Church of Christ where she belonged to the Helping Hands Circle.
