Gilbert H Fortin

Gilbert H. Fortin , 89, of Regency Place Nursing Home, formerly of 1522 Rosemary Lane, South Bend, Ind., died of natural causes on Wednesday, Dec. 23, in the nursing home.

He was born on October 30, 1909, in Newton County, Ind. He was raised on a farm four and a half miles east of Morocco, Ind.

On August 17, 1932, he married Crystal Wheeler. Crystal passed away on July 13, 1986, after 54 years of marriage.

Mr. Fortin retired from Bendix Aviation Corporation.

He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Ann (Richard) Burks of Granger, Ind., and Sandra May (Jerry) Wiseman of Schaumburg, Ill.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Gerry Heed and Evelyn Wagner both of South Bend.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. on today in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in South Bend where Mr. Fortin was a member since 1926.
