Helen R. (Heideman) Cashman

Helen R. Cashman, 75, of 302 Rue Rabelais, died at 9 p.m. Friday in Memorial Hospital after an illness. She was a school nurse in the South Bend Community Schools for 25 years, with most of those years at Riley High School. Born Aug. 28, 1910, in South Bend, she was a life-time resident. On April 26, 1941, in South Bend, as Helen Heideman, she married Benjamin Cashman, who died in 1942. Surviving are a son, Benjamin Cashman; a grand-child; a sister, Vernette Heideman of Mishawaka; and a brother, George Heideman of South Bend. A sister, Margaret Stably, died in 1985. 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, of which she was a member. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Mrs. Cashman was a member of the Christ Child Society, Progress Club, Thalia Sorority, Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, and St. Mary's College Alumnae Association. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Child Society.
