MARY (DOUD) THOMAS

Mary Thomas, 104, of Cozad, passed away April 5, 2011, at the Golden Living Care Center in Cozad.
Mary was born Jan. 13, 1907, at Indianapolis, Ind., to Bert and Hazel (Stiver) Doud.

She graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1925.

Mary worked for the Conservative Life Insurance for several years in South Bend, Ind. In 1927, she married Dale Hinton at South Bend. Their union was blessed with one son, Blake. She went on to marry John Young, and after his passing, Jim Thomas. Mary made her home in Indiana for nearly her entire life. In 1996, she moved to Nebraska to be closer to her family.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in North Platte. Mary's church and her faith were central in her life.

She was an avid reader and loved to crotchet, cross-stitch and quilt. She also enjoyed time spent with family.
In addition to her husbands, Mary, was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph; two sisters, Nora and Lucille; and two infant siblings, Ben and Delores.

She is survived by her son, Blake (Jeanette) Hinton, North Platte; five grandchildren, David (Becky) Hinton, of Casper, Wyo., Dianne (Clark) Laier, of Eustis, Kathleen (Calvin) Miller, of Omaha, Becky (Mohamed) Aboushady, of Cozad, Randolph (Jean) Hinton, of Lincoln; 10 great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established and online condolences may be shared at berrymanfuneralhome.com.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with Pastor J.C. Calhoun officiating. Inurnment will be at the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park at Granger, Ind., at a later date. There will be no visitation. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad is in charge of arrangements.
