May 26, 1918 - March 21, 2008
NEW CARLISLE - William A. Palm Sr., 89 of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008, at Hamilton Communities in New Carlisle, Indiana. Mr. Palm was born May 26, 1918, in LaPorte, Indiana to Walter J. and Opal (Fisher) Palm. Mr. Palm was an accountant and assistant manager-comptroller with Waggoner Fuel Company Inc. in South Bend for 37 years, retiring in 1983. He then worked with his son at Palm and Associates for 20 years.

On October 12, 1940, William married Dorothy I. Schreyer, who survives. Surviving with his wife of 67 years are his sons, William A. (Judith) Palm Jr. of Utica, Michigan, Robert D. (Carolyn) Palm of New Carlisle, Indiana; grandchildren, Jodi (Michael) Merrifield, Jennifer J. (Todd) Koehn, Brian D. (Becky) Palm, Brett R. Palm, Alysia M. Palm; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Matthew Merrifield, Mackenzie and Delaney Jo Koehn; and a brother, James W. (Carolyn) Palm of Rockford, Illinois.

Sisters, Marjorie Eveliegh and Katheryn McGlosen preceded him in death.

Mr. Palm graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1937, was a World War II Army Veteran of the South Pacific, a life-member of the American Legion,

Past President of the New Carlisle Lion's Club, a member of the Isaac Walton League in South Bend, Past President of the St. Joseph Valley Oil Industry Club, Past President of the South Bend Mishawaka Coal Dealers Association, and member and former Lay Leader and Chairman of the Administrative Board of the New Carlisle United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, Indiana. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the New Carlisle United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery in South Bend, Indiana.
