Richard John Steffaniak

Richard John Steffaniak, 49, an administrative engineer with the Aerospace Division of the Bendix Corp., died of an apparent heart attack Monday in his home. He resided at 123 N. Holiday Dr.  An employee of the Bendix Corp. since 1940, Mr. Steffaniak was secretary of the South Bend Golf Assn. and a past president of the Bendix Management Club. He also was a member of the National Management Assn.  He was graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1940, and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. 

Mr. Steffaniak was born on Oct. 31, 1917, in South Bend. His, wife, the former Joan Kovacs, whom he married in South Bend’ on Oct. 9, 1943, died last February. 

He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Steffaniak, of South Bend; two daughters, Susan J., a student at Rosary College, River Forest, Ill., and Lynne A., a student at Marian’ College, Indianapolis, and a brother, George J., of Knoxyille, TN.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.moday in the Welsheimers Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Rev. Walter Higgins, C.S.C., pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
