Mary Kish, 83, of Stevensville, MI, died at Lakeland Regional Medical Center on Sunday, January 18, 2009. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home, St. Joseph, MI.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 11:00am, at the Stevensville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Gordon Barry officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Bluff Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service - from 10:00-11:00am on Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stevensville United Methodist Church or to the Diabetes Association. Mary was born on December 30, 1925 in South Bend, IN to John and Catherine (Lerner) Mitchell. She was a graduate of South Bend Central High School, and attended Greg Business College where she received an associates degree in business. Mary married Robert Kish, Sr. on July 20, 1974 in Stevensville, MI. She had worked at Kawneer in Niles, MI, and retired from Whirlpool after 25 years of dedicated service as an executive secretary. She was a member of the Stevensville United Methodist Church, and had worked in the church office for over 10 years. Mary was a member of the American Legion Post #568 of Stevensville. She was also an avid bulldog lover, having won many a prize for her showdogs. Mary loved her husband, children, and most of all her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Robert; her children, Robert (Sibyl) Kish, Jr. of St. Joseph, and Kathleen Rice of Cummings, GA; and nine grandchildren, Brad, Kyle, Jessica and Maria Kish, Michael, Tyler, Katia, Natalia and Elena Rice. Mary is preceded in death by her parents-John and Catherine, and a brother-James Mitchell.
