David Peter Koehler

David Peter Koehler, age 84, who resided in South Bend, IN, passed away at home on November 30, 2010. David was born on September 9, 1926 in Niles, Michigan, the son of Fred J. and Victoria (Kowalski) Koehler.

He was a graduate of the former Central High School, South Bend, IN.

He served in W.W. II in the Army Air Corps for 2 years and served a Tool & Die apprenticeship at the LaSalle Tool & Die Company. David formally worked at various Tool & Die companies in the area. He worked as a manufacturing engineer for Bendix Brake & Steering before his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post #50, M.R. Falcons Club, Bendix Retired Salaried Employees Club, Bowlers Country Club, Z.B. Falcons Conservation Club, Holy Family Parish, and a former member of the Corpus Christi Church Ushers. 

David was married on September 26, 1953 in South Bend to the former Pauline R. Bilinski, who survives. He is also survived by three daughters, Julie Ann (Dave) Yoder of Osceola, IN, Margaret Koehler of Plymouth, IN, and Alice (Michael) Blakesley of South Bend, IN; two sons, Frederick J. (Pam) Koehler of Detroit, MI and David P. (Vicki) Koehler of South Bend, IN; seven grandchildren, Miles Blakesley, Madison Alicia Blakesley, Dagny Koehler, Thadeus Koehler, Grace Elizabeth Koehler, Brennon Koehler, and Marissa Koehler; one sister, Juanita Pawlak of New Jersey; and by multiple nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 3, 2010, in Holy Family Church. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. David was an avid woodworker and gardener. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice or the St. Vincent de Paul Society
