Jane Brown Feb. 21, 1925 - Jan. 24, 2015 MISHAWAKA - Jane Brown of Mishawaka, IN passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2014 at Southfield Village with her daughter at her side. (Elizabeth) Jane Taylor was born on February 21 in South Bend, IN to Eleanor and Clyde Taylor. She lived in the South Bend/ Mishawaka area all of her life.

She graduated from South Bend Central High School where she was the Drum Majorette. She was married in 1947.

She worked for 36 years at the Travelers Insurance Company. She was a very hard-working and a dedicated employee missing very few days of work during those 38 years of employment. She led the donor blood drive at Travelers for many years. Jane led a very active life. In her younger days she modeled for Wyman's Department Store and Sonneborn's. She enjoyed snow skiing in her younger days and belonged to the St. Joseph Valley Ski Club; she served on the National Ski Patrol at Bendix Woods County Park. She was also a member of Service Guild and the Women's Auxiliary of the Hearing and Speech Center of St. Joseph County. She volunteered much of her time for various community agencies/philanthropic events including the Hearing and Speech Center and St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Festival of the Trees. Jane enjoyed spending time with her best friend and daughter, Heather, and her ever-faithful grand-dog, Taylor. Prior to residing at Southfield Village, she enjoyed going to aerobics at Battell Center and going to Friday breakfasts with her friends from the class.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Heather L. Brown, her ever-faithful grand-dog, Taylor, a niece and nephews, and a long-time family friend, Bill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert L. Taylor, and her sister, Ruby Lahey.

She was a very loving and supportive mother who will be dearly missed. Her daughter would like to extend a heart-felt thanks to the entire staff at Southfield Village, who provided loving, compassionate care to Jane and supported her daughter with a special thanks to the 200 floor staff. The staff truly was family. She was also treated with skill and compassion by the Hospice staff and by her long-time physician, Dr. Gail English and her staff.

Funeral services will be held at the McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd., on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at 11 AM, with Chaplain Deborah Hewitt officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral from 10-11 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Mausoleum. Contributions may be made to Center for Hospice Care and/or Pet Refuge.
