HARLEY A. SELLERS

SOUTH BEND - Harley A. Sellers passed away Oct. 5th at South Bend's Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 7, 1929, in South Bend, where he lived his entire life. The son of George and Nola Sellers (both deceased), he was preceded in death by brothers, Bud and Orval Sellers.

Surviving sisters are Evelyn Nelson and Arlene McNerney, both of South Bend.

Harley married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn (Shaw) of South Bend, in 1951 and they recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

A 1947 graduate of Central High School, Harley began and ended his professional career as a tool and die maker. He retired from Adams Engineering in 1989 after 28 years with them. Harley and Marilyn have 3 children: Harley Sellers of Kona, HI, married to Vivian; Roger Sellers of Bailey, CO, married to Karen; and Marlene Raynor of Orange Co., CA. The 6 grandchildren are Gus Sellers, Laura VanDorn, married to Darin VanDorn, Jennifer Edwards, married to Joshua Edwards, Scott Sellers, Brooke Raynor and Dalton Raynor. Two great-grandchildren, Garrett and Olivia VanDorn, are now part of the family tree, and a baby girl Edwards is expected within a few days.

Harley's hobbies were camping, traveling in their motorhome for 20 years, woodworking, and of course gardening because "you can take the boy off the farm but you can't take the farm out of the boy." Harley was a longtime member of South Bend Turners and was a founding member of the German Township Volunteer Fire Dept.

There will be a memorial service on Sat., Oct 12, at Northwest United Methodist Church, 21855 Brick Rd., South Bend, IN 46628. A social gathering and greeting will be between 2 and 3, followed by the service at 3, with a meal afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church above.
