JANICE R. (MACLEAN) RUTH

SOUTH BEND - Janice R. Ruth, 80, of South Bend, IN passed away at 7:15 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2008 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born October 8, 1928 in South Bend, IN, to George M. and Marjorie (Michaels) MacLean.

On August 26, 1950 in the First Presbyterian Church, South Bend, she married Paul " Bill" W. Ruth, who survives. Mrs. Ruth is survived by her husband, Bill; loving step mom, Phyllis Dyer; three children, James C. (Dana) Ruth of South Bend, IN, John R. Ruth of Bremen, IN and Rebecca Jane (Scott) Yates of Zionsville, IN; six grandchildren, Todd (Jami) Ruth, Tim (Katie) Ruth, Patrick (Valerie) Ruth, Ross Yates, Carlie Yates and Anne Yates; three great grandchildren, Carter Ruth, Morgan Ruth and Macie Mae Ruth; three siblings, John MacLean, Kathrine Gillis and Sandy (Michael) Casey. She is also survived by her nieces, Debra Ruth, Neely Gillis, Jamie Gillis, Kelly Casey, Lois Thompson and Linda Whitman and nephews, Robert, Thomas and David Ruth.

An infant son, Michael Ruth preceded her in death.

Mrs. Ruth graduated from Central High School and attended Franklin College.

She retired from The Ivy Room at L.S. Ayres. She was a member and past president of the Service Guild. Mrs. Ruth loved spending time with her family. The Ruth family would like to thank Dr. Jodi Wiseman and the staff at Memorial Hospital for all the help and care given to Janice.

Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. today, December 27, 2008, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. Rev. Phillip Jerome will officiate. Private interment will be held at a later date. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00-5:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. Contributions may be offered to the charity of the donor's choice.
