CARMEL - Alice M. (Czeck) Skwarcan, 88, quietly and peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by many of her family on February 7, 2017. She was born in South Bend, IN, June 28, 1928 to the late Walter and Martha (Andrysiak) Czeck,

Alice was a graduate of South Bend Central High School.

She and her family moved to Elkhart, IN in the early 60's. In 2000 she moved to Carmel, IN to be closer to her family. She enjoyed family gatherings, eating out, playing practical jokes and reveling in the accomplishments of her family.

Alice is survived by her children, Rebecca Foster of Carmel, IN, Bruce of Elkhart, IN, Chet (Pat Samsen) of Danville, IN, Tamara Stephan (Lee) of Fishers, IN, Cynthia Rash (Todd) of Fort Wayne, IN, Kenneth (Lori Colquitt) of Carmel, IN, Shelly DeBusk of Fishers, IN and Jason (Jo Ellen Brunson) of Fishers, IN; 22 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond and Leonard of South Bend; former husband, Chester L. Skwarcan of Elkhart, IN and infant grandson, Connor Brunson Skwarcan of Fishers, IN.

Even in death, she remains generous; she has bequeathed her body to the IU Anatomical Gift Program in order to enhance the learning of future medical professionals. She and family are so grateful to the care and love from the staff of Community Hospital North - inpatient, outpatient, Cancer Center, and Home Care/Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, Alice has requested that memorial gifts be sent to the St. Vincent Carmel Hospital NICU, c/o St. Vincent Foundation, 8402 Harcourt Rd., #210, Indianapolis, IN 46260, to honor the short life of her grandson, Connor.
