Edward M. Pauwels

August 19, 1917 - Dec. 25, 2004 

Edward M. Pauwels, 87, of Hollywood Place in South Bend, passed away in his sleep at home, on Christmas Day, December 25, 2004. He was born on August 19, 1917, to the late Gustaves and Emma (Buysse) Pauwels In South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with his parent; one sister, Madeline Farrington; and two brothers, Raymond and Gerard Pauwels, all preceded him in death. Mr. Pauwels retired from Bendix Products in 1980, as a Senior Design Supervisor, after 20 years of employment. He had earned 26 patents during his career.

On June 10, 1939, he married Lucille Jaworskl In St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. She survives; along with one daughter, Mary Joan (James) Koran of Naples, ME; three sons, James (Anita) Pauwels of Willow Park, TX; Gerard (Colleen) Pauwels of Bloomington, IN; John (Sarah) Pauwels of Elkhart, IN; seven grandchildren. Bryan (Andrea) Koran; Michael (Glenda) Koran: Kevin Koran: Erin Palms's: Matthew Pauwels: Amanda Pauwels; Laura Pauwels; six great grandchildren; and one brother, Andrew (Elaine) Pauwels of Bloomington, IN.

Mr. Pauwels was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, where he was currently a member of Hoy Cross Parish. He was a 1936 graduate of Central High School.

Edward was an avid fisherman and card player; and delighted in creating toys and games to entertain his grand-children and great grandchildren. He had remained devoted to his bride Lucille for over 65 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held al 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. December 29, 2004 in Holy Cross Catholic Church. with Rev. Michael Wurtz, C. S.C. officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. December 28, 2004 in Kaniewski Funeral Home. 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary well be prayed at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: Renaissance Campaign for Holy Cross School. 920 Webber St., Soon) Bend.
