JENICE (EGGLESTON) HALSTEAD

Jenice E. Halstead Battle Creek Jenice E. Halstead, age 90, of Battle Creek, died Sunday, August 3, 2008, at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility. Jenice was born on April 22, 1918, in New Carlisle, Indiana, the daughter of Frank and Jessie E. (Eckert) Eggleston.

She was a 1936 graduate of Central High School in South Bend, Indiana.

She married her first husband, Larry Bowman, then in 1954 married her second husband, Earl Halstead, who preceded her in death in 1991. Jenice owned a seamstress business in Evart, Michigan. She was an award-winning sales representative for Stanley Home Products retiring in 1979. She had previously worked at Eaton Manufacturing Company. Jenice was a member of the North Avenue Church of God. She and Earl would winter in Lake Wales, Florida.

Surviving are children, Susan (Ronald) Blyveis of Battle Creek, Sally (Edward) Hieftje of Lansing and Patricia (Dick) Tomlinson of Battle Creek; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beulah (Richard) Shafer of Battle Creek.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Leland Eggleston.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4 to 6:00 p.m. at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association or a Charity of Choice.
