Rhea Bell Thompson Lannan

Rhea Belle Lannan, 88 of Carmel, passed away April 25, 2013. She was born on April 28, 1924 in Norwalk, OH to the late Albert H. and Rhea B. Lawry Thompson.

Rhea was a 1942 graduate of South Bend Central High School.

Rhea was employed as an Administrative Assistant in retail having worked a number of years with Ayr-Way store in South Bend as well as G.H. Tepe Company. Later on, Rhea worked as the Ambulance Billing Clerk for the Carmel Fire Department
from 1998 - 2010.

Rhea enjoyed playing the card game, Skip-Bo with her grandchildren. A favorite pastime was faithfully watching NCIS on television. Watching old reruns such as MASH and Adam 12 as well as other old shows were a part of her daily routine.

Rhea received pleasure in simple things such as breathing in the fresh ocean breeze and watching the splashing of the waves while visiting FL. Rhea's last visit to FL was when her family celebrated her 83rd birthday.

In addition to her parents, Rhea was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Charles A. Lannan, son, Terry L. Lannan and two granddaughters, Stacy Lannan and Theresa Lannan.

Survivors include her children, Sandra J. Smith (David) of Longview, WA, Pamela Burke (Angie Anson) of Anderson, IN, Bonnie Callahan (Stanley) of Carmel, IN, Rebecca Lannan of Carmel, IN and James A. Lannan (Tracey) of Fishers, IN; grandchildren, Tammy Riggs (Gregory), Brian Lannan, Donald Lannan, Lisa Smith, Jill Smith (Tina Belmont), Carol Ruiz (Dan), Richard Burke (Sandy), Scott Burke (Rebecca), Andrew Callahan (Jackie), Nicholas Callahan (Shereen Nolot), Amanda Callahan (Scott Weaver), Andrew Lannan (Courtney) Brittney Looney (Stephen) and Gregory Lannan (Megan); 31 great-grandchildren and eight great-great- grandchildren.

Rhea's life will be celebrated on Sunday, April 28, 2013 from 2-4 pm in the Carmel VFW Post #10003. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to the Carmel Fire Department Christmas Assistance Program "CAP", 2 Civic Square, Carmel, IN 46032 or St. Vincent Hospice, 8450 N. Payne Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
