ANNA SIPOCZ OBITUARY

Nov. 3, 1923 - Apr. 21, 2018

SOUTH BEND - Anna G. Sipocz, age 94, of South Bend, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday afternoon, April 21, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.

Anna was born on November 3, 1923 in South Bend to the late Anthony J. and Agnes E. (Abraham) Gorog and has lived in this area all of her life. On November 25, 1950 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in South Bend, she married the love of her life, Richard W. Sipocz, who preceded her in death on March 27, 2001. Also preceding her in death is her sister, Agnes E. Joo; and two brothers, Joseph and Emery Gorog.

Anna graduated from Central High School (Class of 1942). She was involved in the knitting, choral, and magician clubs. Anna was nicknamed “Shorthand Whiz.” Anna went to work for the St. Joseph County Clerk. She retired from St. Joseph County Adult Probation Department after 47 years of service.

Anna is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne (David) Lippert of South Bend; four grandchildren, Ann Marie (Scott) Horne of Osceola, and Christopher, Ashley, and Spencer Lippert of South Bend; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Parmelee, Mariah and Braden Bagarus, and Kayden Moreno.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 28 at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2310 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN. Friends may gather with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, at the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN, as well as one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in South Bend.

Anna loved to play cards and bingo with the United Auto Workers Union. She was known as “Apple Annie.” In her free time, she liked to play an assortment of board games with her family.
