SOUTH BEND - John Charles "Jack" Wolf, 85, of South Bend, passed away at 11:38 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2013, in Memorial Hospital. He was born in South Bend on May 21, 1927, to the late Thelma (Weisner) and Harold Wolf, and was a lifetime area resident.

On November 9, 1946, in South Bend, he married Marian A. Harris, who preceded him in death August 16, 1994, after 48 years of marriage. John and Marian have three living children, Robert S. Wolf (Patti) of Granger, Connie Osterlund of Elkhart and Donald Wolf of South Bend. Two babies, Paul and Linda Wolf, died at birth.

John was loved so much by his grandchildren, Jackey Lenfestey, James Wolf, Sarah Wolf, Daniel Wolf, Alicia Redinger, Holly Yotter, Krista Fleckenstein, Charles Wolf and Joseph Wolf. He also leaves 19 great-grandchildren.

After graduating from Central High School in 1945 he joined the Navy during World War II. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. He was a sheet metal worker and retired from the Bendix Corp. in 1986 after 30 years of service. Jack was a caring man and cared deeply for his family. He was always helping someone.

On September 14, 1996, Jack married Beverly Gustafson, who survives. That marriage added two stepsons to his family, Andrew and Bruce Gustafson, and one step-grandson, Brent Gustafson. Jack also leaves a sister, Cynthia Wolf of South Bend. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wolf. Jack showed a lot of love to his family, left good memories to them and anyone who knew him. We will all miss that smile and his sense of humor.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 5th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., with Rev. Larry Baker of First Brethren Church of South Bend officiating. Committal services with military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today, April 4th, from 4 until 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Midwest Affiliate, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL, 60674; or to the National Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 N.W. 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136; or to First Brethren Church, 4909 S.
