RICHARD L. HEADLEE

LAKEVILLE - Richard L. Headlee, 86, formerly of South Bend, passed away on Tuesday, December 24th, at 6:00 AM at the home of his daughter in Lakeville, IN. The only son of the late Roscoe E. Headlee and Alma (Robertson) Headlee, he was born September 30, 1927, in Adams, IN. Richard spent virtually his whole life in South Bend.

He was a graduate of South Bend Central High School.

Richard married Patricia Whitlow in 1951. Patricia preceded him in death in 1993. In 1996 he married Irma Livengood Putnam, who passed away November 19, 2013. Richard retired from Allied Signal (Bendix) in 1989 after 30 years of service.

A lifelong learner, Richard enjoyed books, nature, animals, and antique cars.

Surviving Richard are his daughters, Moira (Kirk) Dillon-Buck of Lakeville, IN, and Erin (Will) Shafer of Fort Wayne, IN; stepchildren, Michael (Karen) Putnam of South Bend, Patricia (Randy) Gerndt of Granger, Janet (Gary) Langston of Mesa, AZ; and special friends, Lowell and Jean Gray of Titusville, FL, and Bill and Rosalie Siri of Osceola. Visitation will be held Monday, December 30th, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Hanley and Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at 23421 Indiana 23 / West Ireland Road, South Bend. A private family service and entombment at Highland Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. 111 Sunnybrook Court. South Bend, IN. 46637. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Headlee family.
