June 21, 1927 - November 8, 2017 South Bend - Kathryn A. Inwood, 90, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. Kathryn was born June 21,1927 in Escanaba, Michigan to Austin and Mae (Degnan) Goodman. On January 20, 1951 Kathryn married her loving husband David Inwood, who along with his brothers, Kenneth and Jimmy owned the former Inwood's Department Store. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2008. Kathryn was also preceded in death by a brother, John Goodman, a sister, Mary Jane Saber, and life long friend, Mary Lou Kovach. Survivors of Kathryn include her children, Patricia (John Krol) Doberneck of Indianapolis, Paul (Pamela) Inwood of Plymouth, Mary (Mike) Krusniak of Indianapolis, and John (Vicki) Inwood of Atlanta; and eight grandchildren. Kathryn was a Teller at National Bank for six years. She was a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Matthew Catholic Church. At the age of 17, Kathryn bravely travelled by herself from Escanaba, MI to South Bend, IN to live with a beloved uncle and start a new life. She was very proud of her Irish heritage, and an Avid Notre Dame football fan. She never missed a game. Kathryn’s joy in life was raising her four children. Her grandchildren also brought her much happiness, they always looked forward to her visits with hopes she would bring her delicious, famous frosted layer cakes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Cathedral of St. Matthew at 11:00am Thursday, November 16, 2017 with a one-hour visitation prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery.
