RUTH A. YOUNGSMA

Oct. 13, 1922 - Dec. 9, 2015

SOUTH BEND - Ruth Ann “Ruthie” Youngsma, 93, of South Bend, died Wednesday. Ruthie was born October 13, 1922, in Northbridge, MA, to the late Jean (McGregor) and Clarence Youngsma, and had lived in South Bend since 1930. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Jean Youngsma, in 2009. She is survived by her very close friends and caregivers, Kelli and Wade Armentrout, their daughters, Kristin, Kortney, and Kaitlin and their families, and especially Christopher, Curtis and Colton Armentrout of South Bend, and many other friends.

Ruthie graduated from South Bend Central High School. She worked at Studebaker's of South Bend but retired as a secretary from Indiana Bell in 1985 after 32 years and was a lifelong member of South Bend First Church of the Nazarene.

In her retirement, she and her sister, Dorothy, enjoyed traveling and volunteering at church, and Ruthie was a faithful mall walker! They both were devoted to the care of the Armentrout boys who they unselfishly poured their lives into over the last 23 years.

A celebration of Ruthie's life memorial service will be held on Monday, December 14, 12:00 pm at First Church of the Nazarene, 51690 Ironwood Dr., South Bend. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery. Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., is assisting with arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the South Bend First Church of the Nazarene, 51690 Ironwood Dr., South Bend, IN 46635. Family and friends may leave e-mail condolences at www.welsheimer.com.
