Doris Elaine (Wisler) Tirotta

SOUTH BEND - Doris Elaine Tirotta, 92, passed away peacefully Sunday evening at Southfield Village Nursing Home in South Bend. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, John Jacob Tirotta, her parents, Oren and Florence Wisler, her brothers, Don and Eugene (Virginia) Wisler, and by her sister, Grace (Pat) Krych. Doris & John J. were married on June 19th, 1948, soon after John returned from service during WW II.

Surviving are her children, Dorine K Tirotta, John M. (Christine) Tirotta, granddaughters, Sarah Wooley-DeCook, Rachael Wooley, Jade and Lyra Tirotta, and her 6 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

She graduated from South Bend Central and worked for numerous organizations over the years including St Joseph Hospital, St Joseph Grade School and Standard Oil Corp.

She also volunteered her time for the American Cancer Society , Century Center, Logan Center, as well at the Altar Society of St Joseph Parish in South Bend and the South Bend Garden Club.

Doris loved gardening. Even into her 90s one would find her working away in her garden, flowers always bringing a smile to her face. She also had a passion for reading, especially the Bible and Biblical history. 
She loved her Green Bay Packers and later in life became quite a NASCAR fan.

As per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A special outdoor service will be planned later this Spring. We will lift a glass of wine to honor and celebrate Doris's life in the Spring when the flowers she loved begin to bloom again.

Her family wishes to gratefully thank all who made her stay at Southfield Village as comfortable as possible as well as The Center For Hospice who helped make her transition to Heaven as peaceful as it could possibly be. To send condolences to the family, log on to: www.McGannHay.com.
