SOUTH BEND - Former South Bend resident Marjorie Alys "Marge" Kinney, 88, of Franklin, IN, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 in Franklin United Methodist Community, Franklin.

Marge was born September 24, 1923 in South Bend to the late Emma L. (Erhardt) and George J. Roessler and was a lifetime South Bend resident until moving to Franklin. On April 8, 1945 in South Bend, as Marjorie A. Roessler she married Thomas R. Kinney, who preceded her in death May 1, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Barnes. S

he is survived by her daughter, Karol Dougherty of Bargersville, IN; son, Thomas C. Kinney (Denise) of Petersburg, IN; five grandchildren, Jennifer Arkins (Casey), Heather Malott (Stacey), Gretchen Kinney, Theron Kinney, and Hilary Latham (Nick); six great-grandchildren, and her brother, James A. Roessler of Dowagiac, MI.

Marge was a homemaker and part time employee at H & R Block for over 25 years. Family was important to her and she was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and their career paths and accomplishments. She was very active in her church and was part of the South Bend delegation that linked Arzberg, Germany as "Sister Cities", where her family roots originated from. Some of her happiest memories were at her cottage at Round Lake with family and friends. The cottage was small but it always had a big welcome, plenty of food, and loud laughter.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18th in Zion United Church of Christ, 715 E. Wayne St. with Rev. Wendy Bruner officiating. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Church of Christ, 715 E.
