Nashville, Indiana — Max O. Whiteman, 86, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Brown County Health Care Center following a brief illness. He was born September 10, 1922 in Grant County, Indiana, the son of Nurr and Bessie (Smith) Whiteman.

Mr. Whiteman was a veteran of World War II, having flown 35 successful missions in a B-17. On, November 11, 1952, Max married the love of his life, Alice (Hole) Whiteman, at South Bend, Indiana. Max was a very hard working family man who retired as a Line Foreman after many years of service with the Studebaker Automobile Corporation in South Bend.

Survivors include two daughters, Dale and Kelly Whiteman, Brown County, Indiana; one granddaughter, Jessica Davis, (husband-Nathan), Brown County, Indiana; two great grandsons, Mason and Aden Davis, both at home; two sisters, Lois Wilson, Mishawaka, Indiana and Virginia Harley, New Port Richey, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alice, in March of 2005.

Services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel with Rev. Tim Keating officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery with Military Rites by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel on Saturday, March 14, 2009, from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
