Waneta E. Thomas Dorsett

SOUTH BEND - Waneta Dorsett, 89, formerly of South Bend, passed away in her residence in Columbia Station, Ohio, on Friday, June 1, 2012. She was born in South Bend, IN on February 23, 1923 to the late John L. and Pearl E. (Higgins) Thomas.

Waneta was married to Richard E. Strong, who preceded her in death in 1952. She married her second husband, Louis Dorsett, who also preceded her in death in 1983.

Waneta is survived by her two daughters, Andrea (Ted) Bell of Middleburg Hts., Ohio and Sharon (Wally) Patterson, of Mishawaka. Waneta was a grandmother of four: Tonia (Scott) Baggett, Douglas (Donnette) Patterson, Shane (Carol) Bell, and Aaron (Courtney) Patterson; a great grandmother of eleven: Nathan, Lauren, Megan, Chad, Joel, Caitlin, Joshua, Emily, Haley, Austin, and Alex; and a great-great grandmother of two: Scarlett and Casey. She was preceded in death by her brother, Wilbur Thomas; and her sister, Evelyn E. Thomas. She is survived by a sister, Lucile (Clarence) Schmidt of Ashville, North Carolina. She loved many nieces, nephews, and stepchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 12th in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger. Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka, assisted the family with local arrangements.
