Doris "Tootsie" Ziker, 81, of South Bend, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003 in her residence on Copper Pointe Drive. She was born on Dec. 18, 1922 in Rockford, Ill. to Ben and Rose (Fishman) Yashun. On May 12, 1943 she married Louis Ziker. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Tootsie was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Beatrice Eder.
Survivors include her husband, Louis Ziker of South Bend; her daughter, Barbara Ziker Brook of South Bend; her son, Frederick A. Ziker of The Woodslands, Texas; four grandchildren, Cara and Lisa Brook and Dana and Benjamin Ziker; her niece, Linda Summer and two nephews, Charles Eder and Robert A. Eder.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Doris "Tootsie" Ziker to the Temple Beth-El Food Pantry or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
