HOBERT SHELTON

Hobert Shelton Jr. Nov. 11, 1920 - May 11, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Mr. Hobert Shelton Jr., age 93, of Michigan, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014, at the Cass County Medical Care facility in Cassopolis, Michigan. He was born in Madisonville, KY, on November 11, 1920, to the late Hobert Shelton Sr. and Emma (Lewis) Shelton.

Hobert graduated from South Bend Central High School and Fisk University in Nashville, TN.

He also served in the United States Army as a Sergeant of the Motor Patrol. After the U.S. Army, Hobert worked for Studebaker for 20 years as a Union Steward. He then went to work for AM General as a General Manager at the LaPorte, Indiana, plant. Hobert loved hunting and fishing at his lake house in Michigan.

Hobert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Early (Owens) Shelton; daughter, Becky Miller of Kansas City; along with several grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

Hobert was preceded in death by his son, Hobert Shelton III; and sister, Francis McShane.

Funeral services for Mr. Shelton will be today, May 15, 2014, visitation 10:00 a.m. and funeral services 11:00 a.m. at Clark O'Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend.
