Clara Belle Overmyer

Clara B. Overmyer

Nov. 13, 1920 - April 21, 2004

Clara B. Overmyer, a dear friend to many, was surrounded by her loving family when, after a short illness, she went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 21, 2004. Born November 13, 1920, to Carey and Etta (Beck) Overmyer in Tiosa, Indiana, Clara went on to graduate from Central High School in South Bend, Indiana.

Clara spent a good part of her professional career traveling as a Sales Supervisor for Liberty Products. Throughout her professional career she established many lifelong friendships in the Madison, Wisconsin, area where she made her home for over 45 years. Clara recently moved back to South Bend due to her illness, and lived here from February 2004 until her death. Clara's unique craftsmanship in her cross-stitch needlework brought high praise among those who had the privilege to see her handiwork. The projects which she completed over the years are truly works of art.

She is survived by four nieces and two nephews: Doris and Gerald Hall of Longview, Texas, Patricia and Devon Weaver of Nappanee, Indiana, Sandra Edwards of South Bend, Indiana, Marsha and Uri Castillo of Mishawaka, Indiana, Gerald and Carol Sherk of Gladewater, Texas, and Tom and Eileen Sherk of South Bend, Indiana. Clara is also survived by fifteen great-nieces and nephews along with their children.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents, and also her dear sister, Georgia D. Sherk of South Bend in October 2003.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Susan and Michele, and all other Hospice nurses and aides that provided comfort and care during Clara's time of illness. Services will be held on Saturday, April 24, at 10 a.m. in Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen, with Dr. Bud Steadman officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Mishler's.
