CARL J. WINKEL

SOUTH BEND - Carl J. "Wink" Winkel, 70, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:32 a.m. Sunday, February 25, 2007, in Memorial Hospital. Carl was born on November 19, 1936, in South Bend, to Albert and Antoinette (Krol) Winkel.

He retired in 2000 from Reith Riley Local #364, where he was employed as a truck driver for over 25 years.

On October 19, 1957, in South Bend, he married Lorraine C. Bryda, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Peggy A. (Gregory) Steveken of South Bend, IN; three sons, Timothy G.J. Winkel, Gary A. Winkel and Anthony P. (Cindy) Winkel, all of South Bend, IN; six grandchildren, Nicole, Brock, Taylor, Riley, Cole and Jessica; and one niece, Brenda Kirwin of Rothburry, MI.

Carl was preceded in death his granddaughter, Devin.

Friends may call from 1 until 4 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, in the American Legion Bendix Post #284, 23571 Grant Road, South Bend, IN 46619, where a service will be held at 1 p.m. Carl was a member of the St. Joseph Young Men's Society, The Little Club, American Legion Post #284, and the West Side Conservation Club.
