James E. Kovatch
James “Jim” E. Kovatch, 87, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023. He was born on February 29, 1936 in South Bend to the late Arpad John and Margaret Anne Kovatch. On May 27, 1961 he married the love of his life, Bonnie Rodgers who survives. Jim is also survived by one niece Julie R. Rodgers of New Carlisle, Indiana and one sister-in-law, Toby Rodgers of New Carlisle, Indiana and two special neighbors Dennis and Chris. Jim was also preceded in death by one brother, Richard J. Kovatch, one twin infant brother at birth and one brother in law, James C. Rodgers.
In his later years, Jim enjoyed gardening, watching Notre Dame football, and going to the casino.
Jim wanted to extend a special thanks to his niece Julie for being with him when he needed her most.
Per Jim’s wishes cremation has taken place. He will be buried at a later date in Olive Chapel Cemetery in New Carlisle, Indiana. Memorial Contributions may be made to Riley’s Children’s hospital or a charity of the donor’s choice in Jim’s honor. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewski.com
