EDWARDSBURG - Jack L. Savely, 77, of Gateway Drive, Edwardsburg, Michigan, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010, in his home following an extended illness. He was born on July 4, 1932, in Niles, Michigan, to Stewart and Nettie R. (Bachman) Savely.

He graduated from Central High School in South Bend, Indiana, in 1950, and had lived in this area all of his life.

He was formerly employed at Morgan Drive-Away Trucking Company. Jack was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the United States Navy. He was a member of American Legion Post #365 in Edwardsburg. He showed reining and cutting Quarter Horses.

In 1980, in South Bend, he married the former Deborah A. "Debbie" Funk, who survives. Mr. Savely is also survived by his daughter, Carrie L. Savely of Edwardsburg; three grandchildren; and sisters, Edna "Babe" Best of Buchanan, Michigan, and Joyce Pawlowski of Shelbyville, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stephen and Edwin Savely.

Services for Jack L. Savely will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles, with Pastor Duane Wilson of Life Station Ministry officiating. There will be no visitation. Contributions in memory of Jack may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
