SOUTH BEND - Roy L. Temple, 75, formerly of Keller Street in South Bend, IN, died at 6:25 PM Monday, March 2, 2009, in Fountainview Place of Mishawaka. He was born on July 12, 1933, to the late Angus Milo and Camilla Rebecca (Gammell) Temple in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Temple was retired from Post & King Aviation at the South Bend Regional Airport where he had worked for over 20 years. He was also a former German Township volunteer fireman.

He is survived by his brother, James R. (Jean) Temple of Granger, IN; stepsister, Doris Fritz of Walkerton, IN; two nieces, Nancy (Mark) Nielson of Palisades, MN, and Tina (Paul) Huff of Niles, MI; and by two nephews, James M. (Karen) Temple and Jack L. Temple, both of Granger, IN. Roy was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

He graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1951, and was a member of the school ushers club. One of Roy's proudest moments was having the privilege of meeting the actor, Roy Rogers. He was also an avid coin collector.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM today, March 5, 2009, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where friends may visit one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in South Bend, where military services will be conducted by American Legion Post #284. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Chicago, IL, Office, 30 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 2015, Chicago, IL 60602.
