MARJORIE (HOWELL) PERKINS

Marjorie Perkins Nov. 23, 1931 - April 9, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Marjorie "Marj" (Howell) Perkins, 83, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at The Sanctuary at St. Paul where she was a resident for the past three years. Marjorie was born on November 23, 1931, in Duluth, GA, to Paul Buss Howell and Ardessie (Harris) Howell, who preceded her in death. Two sisters, Lois Hawkins and Thelma R. Adams, also preceded her in death.

On June 5, 1951, Marjorie married Leroy Perkins of South Bend, IN, who preceded her in death on Feb. 28, 2015.

Marjorie is survived by two daughters, Regina Perkins and Ramona Perkins of South Bend, IN, and three sons, Reginald (Cyresa) Perkins of Fredericksburg, VA, Raynard (Tamara) Perkins of Mishawaka, IN, and Rodrick Perkins of Clarksville, TN. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie (Sam) Dickens of Mishawaka, IN, and Shirley Hill of St. Joseph, MI; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marjorie graduated from Central High School and was employed at the Univ. of Notre Dame from 1965 - 1991. She was a member of First A.M.E. Zion Church. After retirement, Marjorie spent time enjoying and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at First AME Zion Church, 801 N. Eddy St., South Bend, with visitation at 11 am Saturday, April 18, one hour prior to the 12 pm service. Rev. Johnny Johnson Jr. will officiate. Christian burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary. Online condolences may be sent to www.alfordsmortuaryinc.com.
