LILLIE MAE (HARRIS) PRYOR

SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Lillie Mae "Nookie" (Harris) Pryor, 76, a resident of West Washington Street, South Bend, Indiana, passed from this life at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2008, in her home following an illness. Lillie was born to the union of Robert Lee and Tressie (Howell) Harris on October 27, 1931, in Duluth, Georgia.

As a young child, Lillie moved with her parents to South Bend in 1937 from Duluth. She attended and graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1950.

For 29 years Mrs. Pryor was employed by Raco as a laborer, retiring in 1995. She also worked as a lunch aide at Harrison Elementary School. After retiring from Raco, she served as senior citizens director for the Charles Black Center. Among her hobbies were cooking, spending time with her neighbors, and she loved to feed her squirrels and birds. Mrs. Pryor was a member of the Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board. L

oving family members who survive to cherish her memory include three daughters, Robbie Lynn (Robert Sr.) Gunn, Sheila Pryor and Lillian Lee; one son, Terry Lamar Pryor, all of South Bend; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marion (Ferman) Young of South Bend and Hattie Roberts of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, Robert Lewis Harris of South Bend and Henry Robert (Cola) Harris of Chattanooga, Tennessee; and one goddaughter, Sharon Jones.

The family would like to thank the Hospice and Palliative Care Center, Susan Whitehead, her primary nurse, Dr. Maureen Ziboh and Dr. William Kamanda for their care and concern.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and a sister, Dorothy Fleming.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pryor will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Larry Davidson officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Alford's Mortuary where arrangements have been entrusted.
