JUDITH (MAGERA) BOWLBY

LAGRANGE - Judith R. Bowlby, 66, of LaGrange, Indiana, formerly of Elkhart died December 14, 2008 in Rush Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. She was born on February 2, 1941, in South Bend, Indiana to John and Rose (Nagy) Magera.

She married Douglas W. Bowlby April 16, 1966, in South Bend, Indiana. He survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Holly (Steven) Quasny of Chicago and Melissa (Brian) Richmond of Fishers, IN; one son, Joshua J. (Christy) Bowlby of Elkhart; four grandchildren; and one brother, John A. Magera of Bradford Woods, PA.

Mrs. Bowlby was employed by the city of Elkhart as office manager for the Wastewater Treatment Plant for 19 years, retiring in 1989. She was then employed by the Lakeland High School System as office manager for eight years in the guidance department. She was a graduate of South Bend Central High School, served as parish council secretary at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaGrange, Indiana.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Elkhart County, Center for Hospice and Palliative Care or to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
