NILES - James Joseph Witkowski, 80, of South Fourteenth Street, died Thursday in West Woods of Niles. He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Michael (Bonnie) Witkowski of South Bend and Thomas (Janice) Witkowski of Columbus, IN, and James (Cindy) Witkowski of Little Rock, AR; a daughter, Theresa (Chris) Teeple of Osceola; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Clifford (Josephine) Witkowski of Mishawaka.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather - his wife, children and grandchildren were the joys of his life. Jim served in the U.S. Navy, where he received the Honor Man award from the Great Lakes Training Naval Station and served his country during the Korean War on the USS Power Destroyer.

Jim attended Central High School, later graduated from Valparaiso Technical Institute, and worked at Whirlpool Corp. from which he retired after 30 years of service.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. today, Dec. 19th, in Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles, MI, where friends may call one hour prior to services.
