Gloria Joy Tashgy (Palmer)

GLORIA J. (TASHGY) PALMER

Gloria Joy Tashgy Palmer, of Roswell, passed away October 1, 2003 after an unexpected and brief illness. Although she was ill, Gloria's main concerns were centered on her family and her friends. She was still trying to "mother" one and all. This nurturing ability was second nature to Gloria who was raised on a farm in South Bend, Indiana by her parents, the late James and Lucy Tashgy.

Gloria graduated from Central High School and Perdue University. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha National Sorority.

Gloria met and married the love of her life, the late Allen M. Palmer, while working for GE in Schnectady, NY. Her varied careers ranged from Home Economics in Illinois, to working in Richmond, VA. as a librarian at the Math and Science Center, and Accounting for Henrico Doctor's Hospital.

Horseback riding from her youth carried over to horseback riding all over the world. Later, riding exotic animals in foreign countries were Gloria's next adventure as she became a world wide traveler and cruised all the main oceans as well as many of the worlds lesser known rivers. She was known as the resident traveling expert this side of the Mississippi. An excercise fanatic, an avid reader, a bridge player and a jokester, she will be missed by one and all.

Gloria is survived by her son, Randy and Zoe Palmer, Acworth, GA; and her daughter, Sherry and Roger Williams of Lyman, SC; grandchildren include Daniel and Candice Palmer of Acworth, GA; Heather, Brian, Glenn, and Kate Williams, all of Lyman, SC.

A memorial service will be held on All Saints Day, November 1, 2003 at Shiloh United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Floyd. The church is located at 3860 Cherokee St., NW, Kennesaw, GA. 770-590-1333. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Douglas S.
