Lois June Rotzoll (Campbell)

LOIS (ROTZOLL) CAMPBELL

June 27, 1931 - May 11, 2013
SOUTH BEND - Lois June Campbell, 81, while surrounded in her home by the love of her family, left this life to be with her Savior on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 10:30 pm. Lois was born June 27, 1931, in South Bend, to Katherine (Borowitz) Rotzoll and Edward Rotzoll, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her brother, Eugene Rotzoll.

Lois graduated in 1949 from South Bend Central High School and married E. John Campbell, to whom she was married for 59 years before his death in 2008.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Shelley Cataldo, and son-in-law, Tim Cataldo of Elkhart; son, Scott Campbell, and daughter-in-law, Beth Campbell of South Bend; and grandchildren, Matt Andrysiak and his wife, Cloie of Watertown, MA, Tori Campbell and Dani Campbell of South Bend. She is also survived by her cousins, David Borowitz of South Bend and Phyllis Watt of Bloomington, and 11 nieces and nephews located across the country

Lois worked for many years as a secretary at several local insurance companies, and was always proud to have worked for Frank Sullivan at Frank Sullivan & Associates as he was starting his business. She remained active in Central High School Reunion Committees, helping to keep the alumni in contact with one another. Her greatest attribute and the legacy that she will leave behind, however, was her ability to love all, unconditionally. Lois touched many people's lives with her outward kindness and warm heart, which naturally drew people to her. Her children and grandchildren were lifelong recipients of her caring, loving ways. Always there, armed with words of encouragement & big hugs, Lois and John never missed one of their grandson's plays or one of their granddaughters' softball games.

Her fellow members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, to whom she was well-known as "Chief Hugger," also felt welcomed and surrounded by her love. She always made it a point to engage in conversation with everyone she met, & to make people feel included. Lois was extremely generous, always thinking of others before herself. Most who knew her agree that being around Lois made you want to be a better person. At Holy Trinity, Lois taught the confirmation class for over 15 years, served on many hospitality committees, and began the church's involvement with Hope Rescue Mission. She encouraged the startup of Stephen Ministry, and was grateful to have been a Stephen Minister. She also took loving charge of Holy Trinity's Prayer Chain, and, especially after her health deteriorated, spent much of her days praying for others.

Always giving, even in death, Lois made arrangements to donate her earthly remains to the IU Medical School for research, so that future individuals diagnosed with her disease may find hope of a cure.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 25, at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 51900 Mayflower Road, South Bend. The family will receive guests at the church from 9:00-11:00 am preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, Lois would have been pleased to know you contributed to the ministries of Hope Rescue Mission or Broadway Christian Parish, or to the Center for Hospice Care, to whom she was so grateful.
