Mrs. Ora Lee Plump Ewing (Mommy) 78 years old who resided at Riverside Manor in Elkhart, Indiana departed this life at 10:30 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009 after an extended Illness. Ora Lee was born March 13, 1931 in South Bend, Indiana to the union of Willie Mathis and Hattie Mae Plump.

Ora Lee's early education was received at Linden Elementary. She continued her education at Central High School graduating valedictorian in 1948.

Ora Lee accepted the lord at an early age under the leadership of reverend Harris. During Ora Lee's years at Pilgrim Baptist Church, she served in many departments of the church. Ora Lee was a lifetime resident of South Bend.

On May 25, 1953 in Logansport, Indiana Ora Lee was united in holy matrimony to Mr. William Frederick Ewing, Sr.

Her interest and passions were teaching the word of the Lord To her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, cooking and a faithful volunteer at St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Ora leaves to cherish her memory six daughters, Cathy (James) Rogers, Charla (Nathaniel) Johnson, Pamela (Keith) Young, Patti Ann Ewing, Uranda (Robert) Ewing and Anjanette Ewing; four sons, Maurice (Iris) Plump, Reverend Dennis (Margaret) Plump, Freddie (Laqueta) Ewing and William (Diane) Ewing; five step children, Ronald, William and Barbara Jean Ewing, Freddie and Michael Catkins; 36 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mary Buggs, Carol Plump (Pastor Nathaniel) Dowdell, Linda Smith, Rose Plump (James) Fuloton, and Janice (Terry) Smith; three brothers, Richard, Raymond and Billy Plump; one sister in law, Deanna Ewing of Logansport, Indiana and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family; and her circle, choir and church family.

Ora Lee was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, William Ewing, Sr.; three sisters, Emma (who died shortly after birth), Evelyn Rose Plump-Malone and Dorothy Plump; three brothers, Charles D. Plump, Willie Plump, Jr., and Tommie Plump; two aunts, Willoella Starks and Ann Forrest-Plump and one uncle, Samuel Plump

Funeral services for Mrs. Ora Lee Ewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Pilgrim Baptist Church with burial following at Highland Cemetery. On Friday, June 26, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. viewing will take place at Alford's Mortuary.
