Lewis Edward Boyer May 8, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Lewis Edward Boyer of Loudon, TN, formerly of Bayonet Point, FL, and South Bend, IN, passed away on Thursday, May 8th, at the age of 82 in Tennessee. Lew was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, and was the beloved husband of the late M. Joanne (Beahm) Boyer.

He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Kane, and her husband ,Steve of Newton, MA; and his son, John Boyer, and his wife, Cindy of Seattle, WA. Lewis was the proud and devoted "Papa" to Matthew Kane and his wife, Erica of New York City, Jack Kane of New Orleans, Victoria Kane of Newton, MA, and Jack and Anderson Boyer of Seattle, all of whom he was always willing to introduce to fast food cuisine.

Lewis graduated South Bend Central High School in 1949; attended Indiana University where his mode of transport was a used milk truck; and served in the Army during the Korean War as a supply sergeant at Fort Knox.

He was a salesman for shoes, Uniroyal and Swift and Company before becoming the owner of Great Northern Distributors in the 1960s. He attended many Notre Dame games but really was an IU fan. A

Celebration of Lew Boyer's Life will be held on Sunday, June 29, from 2-5 pm at Morris Park Country Club, where he was a longtime member. In lieu of mourning, there will be discussions of Lew Boyer's gift of gab, love of life and kindness to all. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana, PO Box 1274, South Bend, IN 46624.
