SOUTH BEND - Bruce passed away at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Berkeley, California. He was surrounded by his loved ones. Born May 5, 1935, in North Tonawanda, NY, to Ruth and Carl Hering, he moved to South Bend, IN, in 1950.

Bruce graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1953, and received a BS in Engineering Science in 1957 from Purdue University, and later earned a Master's in Business Administration.

He married Yvonne Schryer on June 8, 1957.

Bruce worked for Bendix Missile Plant in Mishawaka, IN, and was later one of the founding members of Carleton Financial Computations. He moved to Boonville, California, in 1981, where he lived until his death. He founded "Bruce Bread Bakery," which he operated with his daughters, Diane and Ellen, for 12 years. Bruce was a popular local figure who loved hiking, riding his bike, dancing, playing scrabble, and spending time with his family.

Bruce is survived by his three daughters: Diane Hering, Ellen Springwater and Alicia Garcia; his 6 grandchildren; his siblings, Aleda Anderson and Richard Hering; and his partner, Jo Meuller.
