In Memory

George N Beamer - Class Of 1953

George N Beamer

Honorable George N. Beamer

George Noah Beamer passed peacefully of natural causes in his home on August 1, 2021. He was born in South Bend, IN on November 25, 1935 to Charlotte & George N. Beamer Sr. He was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph County and graduated from South Bend Central High School, class of 1954. He went on to graduate from the Indiana University School of Law where he enjoyed performing with The Singing Hoosiers. He married his high school sweetheart Susan (Forrest) Beamer in 1956 and together they had two children. Susan passed away in 1998 and he later married Ms. Ramona Sue (Franklin) Beamer in October of 2000. George is survived by his wife, Ramona Sue Beamer; two children, Becky (Bob) Davis and Steve (Susan) Beamer; his grandchildren, Kerri Powell, Amber Beamer-Rohde, Kody Davis, and Hannah Beamer; as well as six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Susan, as well as his beloved sister Judith (Carl) Roempagel. George was publicly known for his service as a St. Joseph County Superior Court judge, serving at the bench for over 28 years. As a lawyer and judge he was known for being judicially fair and generous to those who needed his assistance. Outside the courtroom he was a tremendous supporter of the fine arts.  George enjoyed just about every genre of music, appreciated the theatre, and had a side hobby in photography. He also loved to travel and would cheer on IU basketball as frequently as possible. George’s brilliant mind, quick wit, random knowledge about almost everything, and sarcastic retorts will be fondly missed by all who loved him. Per his wishes, there will be no public viewing or funeral service. Instead, the family would like you to go listen to lovely music outdoors, throw a good party with those you love, and pour yourself a Manhattan. Cheers.
