Dwight Hoover

SOUTH BEND - Dwight Hoover died at home on Sunday, October 1, after a lingering illness.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; his daughter, Abigail Hoover Eggen (Brian), of St. Paul, MN; his sons, Timothy Hoover of Holland; Joseph Leary (Scott Patten) of Afton, MN; Matthew (Blair) Leary of Atlanta, GA; his brother, Timothy Hoover, of Vandalia, MI; grandchildren, Madeline and Aidan Hoover, Sam Eggen, Thomas and Hudson Leary.

Dwight was born in South Bend, Indiana, to Bernice and Albert Hoover.

He moved to Holland with his family in 1977. He worked for Herman Miller and their subsidiary, Phoenix Designs. Later he formed his own company, American Poly. He retired in 2001.

He was an active member of the Community of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Bonita Springs, FL, where you could find him serving as a Eucharist Minister, attending daily Mass, working with Sacristans, the Arimatheans, as well as a Senior Altar Server and Lector. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. We, as his family, will miss his wit, humor, his love of God, but most of all, Saturday Notre Dame Football.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 5, at 11:00 am, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 480 152nd Ave., Holland with Most Rev. Walter A. Hurley presiding.

Visitation will be from 10-11 am, with a luncheon immediately following the Mass. Please consider in lieu of flowers a donation in memory of Dwight to The Pious Society of Missionaries of St. Charles, who minister to the migrant community of Our lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Immokalee, FL.
