William H. Williams May 25, 1939 - Sept. 27, 2014 SOUTH BEND - On September 27, 2014, an angel with his mighty wings swooped down and took William Henry Williams, 75, to his father's house in heaven. William was born in South Bend, Indiana, on May 25, 1939, to Samuel and Birdie Williams. His parents, Samuel and Birdie Williams, a sister, Vonda King, a brother, Norval Williams, in-laws, William and Jerda Ellis, and brother-in-law, William Ellis Jr., were all anxiously awaiting his arrival.

William was a 1957 graduate of Central High School in South Bend, Indiana. After high school he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an Air Policeman for 20 years. His wife and children accompanied him to Presque Isle, Maine, Topeka, Kansas, Rome, New York, Aga¤a, Guam, and Los Angeles, California. They decided to make California their permanent home.

After finishing college at Cal State Dominguez Hills, William worked for the government another 20 years. He became the Pacific Regional Director for Defense Investigative Services and retired in 1998. William and Judith were married 55 years. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in South Bend at Pilgrim Baptist Church where they originally wed on April 25, 1959. They spent their retirement years entertaining and traveling around the world with family and friends. William was an active, faithful member of First Lutheran Church of Carson for 28 years and served in many capacities. His golf buddies can look forward to teeing off with him in heaven.

He leaves his wife, Judith; and two children: Reginald (Gail) Williams and Michelle (Anthtwane) Caver; four grandchildren: Reginald (Pamela) Williams II, Niana Williams, Erik Caver and Khari Caver. Also, brothers: Samuel (Judy) Williams Jr., Gilbert (Patricia) Williams, Larry (Rosie) Williams, John (Francine) Williams, Howard (Mary) Buchanon; and three sisters-in-law: Marcella Ellis, Gayle Ellis and Sareena Williams; and, an adopted Nigerian family: Thank God and Justina Okiyefa, and their children, Ebi, Oyinmi, Alaendu and Alaere. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services for William H. Williams will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 101 N. Adams St., South Bend, IN. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Sign his guestbook at www.clarkoneal.com to share memories and condolences.
