CLEVELAND, OH - Linda Ellen Edelstein, 68, of 1949 Green Road, Cleveland, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Saturday morning, October 6, 2007. She was born on January 13, 1939, to Sol and Frances (Spitzer) Silver in South Bend, Indiana.

rowing up there, she graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1957.

Throughout her early years, Linda worked for her family in the record store that they operated on Western Avenue. It was there that she learned to appreciate and develop a deep love for all types of music. She later moved to Cleveland where she worked for Decca Records.

In 1966, Linda met Joseph Edelstein, a Holocaust survivor from Belgium. They married on May 18, 1969, and lived in Cleveland. Joe preceded Linda in death in 1997. They had no children.

Linda enjoyed a variety of activities. Music was extremely important to her and she used to volunteer at the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra. She also loved to travel and visited Belgium with Joe on many occasions. Linda also traveled to Israel and went to Las Vegas often. Family was important to her and although she had no children of her own she maintained a deep connection with her brother and sister, her nephews, and her cousins and friends. She loved to attend family cycle events whenever she could and also developed an interest in genealogy research.

Linda is survived by a sister, Mrs. Maxine (Fred) Frank; a brother, Mr. Robert (Marilyn) Silver; and two nephews, Joshua and Benjamin Silver, all of South Bend. She also has many cousins in Cleveland and California.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 12, in the Berkowitz Kumin Bookatz Memorial Chapel, 1985 S. Taylor Road, Cleveland Heights. Local services and burial will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Logan & Jefferson, Mishawaka. McGann-Hay, Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is handling local arrangements. Donations may be made in Linda's memory to Sinai Synagogue, 1102 East LaSalle Avenue, South Bend, IN 46617.
