SOUTH BEND - Our most precious and beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, Sandra M. Dahlke, 75, of South Bend, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 4, 2013. She was born on July 31, 1938 to the late George B. and Harriet L. (Frankowski) Dahlke in South Bend, IN, where she was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelly Anderson, and two dear cousins, Frank Frankowski and Tom Shultz.

Sandra graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1956.

Ms. Dahlke retired in 1995 from the St. Joseph County Court Appointed Alcohol Program in South Bend, IN, where she worked as an office administrator for numerous years and impacted many lives. She had also worked for an extended period of time at Robertson Department Store in downtown South Bend, where she performed various jobs, most notably as a virtuoso gift-wrapper. In addition,

Sandra dabbled as an entrepreneur when she owned and operated the former Muffin Man Restaurant, which was located inside the old Drewry's Brewery in South Bend.

Sandra is survived and missed dearly by her eight children, Jay (Vickie) Anderson of South Bend, IN, Douglas (Mary) Anderson of South Bend, IN, Julie (Lance) Hager of South Bend, IN, Deborah Anderson of South Bend, IN, Jeffrey (Julie) Anderson of Osceola, IN, James (Lori) Anderson of South Bend, IN, Christopher (Lisa) Anderson of Mishawaka, IN and Amy (Tom) McDonald of Niles, MI; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Marcia (Robert) Burns of Marietta, GA; her Godchild, Suzanne Brioli of New Carlisle, IN; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Sandra attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Buchanan, MI, and is resting joyfully now in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She enjoyed shopping at Goodwill, cooking in large quantities for family and friends, and babysitting or helping out no matter what the need. She was also known as "Rags the Clown" for many years, and cheered up many young hearts when performing her routine. Sandra was a two time breast cancer survivor, and was a volunteer for the Reach to Recovery Program at Memorial Hospital, where she brought a kind heart and gentle soul to those struggling with the ravages of cancer.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 9, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 212 W. Front Street, Buchanan, MI, with Vicar Daniel Barz officiating. Cremation will follow.
