Alan R. Hemig, 59, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9:25 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2005, in his home after a brief illness. He was born on May 25, 1946, in South Bend to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Hartz) Hemig. On July 26, 1969, in South Bend, he married the former Annette Csaszar, who survives.

Mr. Hemig is survived by his wife of thirty-six years; a daughter, Diane (Aaron) Hipsher of South Bend; a son, David Hemig of Delphi, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Christian Vellner, Daltin Hipsher, twins, Christiane and Charissa Vellner, Stephanie Nipple, Elizabeth Hemig and Melody Hemig; and a sister, Gloria J. (Ron) Jacobs of Granger.

Mr. Hemig was a lifelong resident of South Bend. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Mr. Hemig was employed for thirty-five years in pharmaceutical sales and was a member of the Michiana Pharmaceutical Association.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Rev. Ron Bowman will officiate. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2005, in the funeral home.
