Lynn Beth Hans (Saylor)

April 9, 1947 - April 25, 2011
SOUTH BEND - Lynn Beth Saylor (Hans), 64, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011, at Grayling Mercy Hospital in Grayling, MI. Lynn was born on April 9, 1947, in South Bend, IN, to the late Don and Pearl Hans (Meyers). South Bend was her home, where she was born and raised, and where she met John Richard Saylor, who she married on November 2, 1974. They were a faithful and loving couple for the past 36 years. Lynn is survived by her husband, John, Roscommon, MI; son, Joshua Saylor, Indianapolis, IN; brothers, Donald Hans, LaPorte, IN, and David Hans, Osceola, IN; and her adoring pets, Amani and Kody. Lynn was preceded in death by her sister, Kirsten Hans. Lynn attended South Bend Central High School and graduated in 1965. She continued her education at Indiana University South Bend. She was multi-talented and a hard worker, performing admirably in multiple roles including a typist serving the University of Notre Dame student body, an administrative assistant for the South Bend Dolphins Swim Club, and as a transcriptionist for the Saint Joseph's County Prosecutors Office. Above all else, Lynn valued her family, and worked primarily to support her husband and son. Lynn enjoyed knitting, cooking, wildlife, music and movies. But most of all, she was a voracious reader, possessing wisdom and knowledge on a variety of subjects. She was strong and intelligent, a devoted wife and mother with a lively sense of humor and bright smile. She had a huge heart that was opened equally to her fellow man and all of God's creatures, but kept the best of her love for her family. Cremation has taken place, and Lynn will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI. No formal ceremony will take place at the family's wishes, and no formal memorial fund has been established. However, there were causes close to Lynn's heart. Donations in Lynn's name to any national or local mental health organization or the Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, would be appreciated.
