DELORES (DEPRIEST) BERRY


Jan. 19, 1929 - Feb. 24, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Delores Olivia DePriest Berry was born on Saturday, January 19, 1929, to the union of Ernest and Mary Williams DePriest. Delores and John L. Berry were married on June 7, 1952.

Their family included four children: daughter, Patricia Adams and her children. Sons, Andre Adams, Bernard Miller, and daughter Shermaine (Berlie) Wilson, all of Allentown, Pennsylvania. Daughter, Leona Page, South Bend, Indiana, and her son, Demetrias (Hope) Page, Sr. of Virginia Beach, Virginia. A son, John L. "Pete" Berry, Jr. South Bend, Indiana, and his children, Karastine "Mis Kitty" Berry, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. His sons, John L. "John John" Berry, III of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and his twin sons, Darrell Berry and Larrell Berry, both of South Bend, Indiana.

She attended Laurel Elementary and Central High schools where she acquired her academic and life-training skills.

Delores was an early member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. D.T. Tate, pastor. She rededicated her life to God in 2012. She was employed by the William Voll, Jr. family, owner of Sibley Machine & Foundry Corp. for many years. She was also employed by Country Care West and Mitchell Country Care Nursing Homes for several years. Upon retiring from these positions, she spent her last 19 years relaxing and resting from those 84 years of life with us.

Those waiting to see her again are two brothers, John DePriest, South Bend, Indiana, and Franklin Roosevelt DePriest, Indianapolis, Indiana; and a sister, Carnell DePriest, South Bend, Indiana; 17 nephews and nieces; 31 great-nephews and nieces, and many more great-great-nephews and nieces. Delores left us on Sunday morning, February 24, 2013, while at home with her daughter, Leona Page; her son, John L. "Pete" Berry, Jr.; and her grandson, Demetrias "Meterman" Page Sr.

Those who went before were her parents, Ernest and Mary DePriest; her husband of 58 years, John L. Sr.; a daughter, Ruthie Berry; and a granddaughter, Shaunita Berry. Brothers, William, Louis, and Ashley DePriest, and sisters, Mattie Valentine, Dorothy DePriest, Maxine Driver and Mary Alice Echols. The children and grandchildren of Delores Olivia

DePriest Berry along with her family members wish to thank each of you for your kindness in providing care for their mother, grandmother and aunt during her time of need. We extend this heartfelt thanks to Doctors John Jacob, M.D.; Manish Jain, M.D.; and David Taber, M.D. Hospice of St. Joseph County Registered Nurses: Colleen, Darlene, Debra, Jennifer, Natalie and Margarite, and their Patient Care Assistants, Barbara, Demarica, Latasha and Michelle. Memorial Home Care Registered Nurses Kathy and Kathy and Alicks Home Care. We also wish to extend our appreciation for all the prayers, cards and flowers received.

Funeral services for Delores Olivia DePriest Berry will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, in River of Life Family Church, 530 E. Ireland Road, South Bend. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and service at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Mishawaka Fairview Cemetery. Visit www.clarkoneal.com to sign her guestbook.
