PEARLIE M. (HENRY) DAY

SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Pearlie M. Day, 73, of South Bend, Indiana, departed this life on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at the Center for Hospice of South Bend. She was born to the union of Monroe Henry and Arcola Malone in Cleveland, Mississippi.

She later moved to South Bend, Indiana, where she grew up and graduated from Central High School in 1957.

She worked at St. Joseph Care Center West for 23 years until she retired.

In 1974 she met and married Henry Corley, here in South Bend, Indiana. She divorced Henry Corley and then two years later she united in holy matrimony to James E. Day Sr., who preceded her in death on August 17, 2009.

She leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing two brothers, Edmond (Anita) Henry and Robert (Brenda) Henry; four sisters, Ernestine Henry, Matlene Turner, Earlene Henry and Ethel (Winfred) Taylor; one son, Peter (Yvonne) Henry; four daughters, Arzenia (Michael) Stanley of Atlanta, Georgia, LaVada (Raymond) Chatman, Luvenia Corley and Lanatia (Tyrone) Harris, all of South Bend, Indiana; one step-son, James Day Jr.; 12 grandchildren & 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends who will dearly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Day Sr.; two brothers, Monroe Henry and James Henry; one son, Dennis Henry; and two nephews, Marvin Cleveland and Timothy Wright, all of South Bend, Indiana. Having missed so many of her relatives who have departed this life, it brings comfort to our hearts that she can unite with them once again.

Funeral services for Pearlie M. Day will be held on Friday, November 16, 2012, in Second Baptist Church, 24828 Fillmore Road. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and services at 12 noon.
